Here we go again... and why.

When I moved to Virginia Beach back in May, I had a vision. I had a vision of beachfront weddings and permanent sandy feet. I live 4 blocks from the ocean so it makes beach sessions extremely convenient and I knew that's what I wanted to do more of. Most photographers in the area are burnt out on beach sessions but when you were born and raised in the mountains, being on the beach everyday is such a blessing.

However, if there is one thing I learned in marketing, it's that you have to attract the customers that you want. If I don't market myself as a beachy photographer, how will people know? I wanted it to be NO QUESTION of who I am and what I love and I think this 'new look' nails that. I also wanted to add "Destination Weddings" to my target audience because it would truly be a dream come true. I would give anything to photograph a tropical wedding.

When I first told Jon that I was getting a new logo, he rolled his eyes and said "well, I guess it's time for your semi-annual rebrand" and unfortunately he was right. I don't exactly have a great track record with keeping a logo and color scheme. Heck, I change my website design weekly. I recently took a step back and realized how much time that was taking up and how much time I wasted on that stuff rather than taking photos. I needed a new look and it needed to be permanent... from there, the research began.

My logos were done by JP over at Ocean Avenue Lettering & Design! I have been following his work for a very long time and every time he posts new art, I fall more and more in love. I knew his work just fit me and my idea perfectly so I sent him an email and we began talking ideas. This logo was hand painted on paper, then scanned into the computer and digitized for use! He's brilliant and I hope you can check out his work and pick up something!

Being a marketing major has been a huge help and a huge pain. I can't help but think of EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of my business and how it comes off to potential and present clients. I wanted to create a super fun and quirky experience because I am not your typical photographer. When you get your wedding package, do you want to get your photos and be done with it? No way! I searched for months trying to find just the right way to say Thank You, deliver your photos, and leave a memorable impression! My new USB drives took forever to find and a second to fall in love with. I am super excited to offer these for my couples starting very soon!!

However the new 'look' isn't all that's new! I've updated my portfolio with more current images, and added a few new sessions including boudoir and pet sessions! I've been doing both for awhile now but never officially offered them as a product until recently because I needed to work out my style. Boudoir sessions are super fun and are a great way to just feel SUPER SEXY. These photos also make great gifts too ;)

So with all that being said, here's to a new start, a new beginning, and hopefully, a permanent look. Introducing, the new and improved Ashley Lester Photography.

I want to throw a HUGE thank you out there to a few specific people:

JP of Ocean Ave Lettering & Design: You killed my logo in the best way possible. All I said was "create something rad" and you nailed it. Thank you so much for working with me and making my vision a reality!

Jon: Thank you for always supporting me and being super honest. I'm so glad you told me your opinions because every bit helped, love you! (Even though I highly doubt you're reading this)

Jacoby Photo & Design: THANK YOU SO FREAKIN' MUCH for helping me with the website revisions, your eye for design is always super helpful, so thank you for letting me take advantage of that. ;)

Bri Cibene Photography: THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. You have been an invaluable help throughout this whole process and I trust your judgement on everything! I guess I should also throw out a thank you to your hubby for the codes and help too ;) haha but seriously, thank you so much.
